The memory is one of the greatest faculties that the human has. Without it we would not ever move one step toward any kind of a goal. We would never have a chance of maturing. In this article I would like for us to consider the subject of Some Things For Christians to Remember.

REMEMBER: WE MAY BE OUR WORST ENEMIES BY OPPOSING OURSELVES -Many of us find ourselves in a position of opposition to our own selves by having high tempers, long tongues, being spiteful, unforgiving, stubborn, or worldly (2 Timothy 2:25). Each of us needs to remember this, and work diligently to overcome.

REMEMBER: WE SHOULD CHANGE OUR MINDS IF WE ARE WRONG – Some will never admit that they are wrong about anything. However, to admit error is simply an admittance that we are growing wiser. It is, also, an admittance of our humility. The individual that is never willing to admit that he is wrong is posing as divine, for only Divinity never sins.

REMEMBER: RETURN GOOD FOR EVIL – MATTHEW 5:43, 44; ROMANS 12:20, 21.
I am sure that this is one of the hardest things for us to remember, but it is a necessary requirement for the Christian. We are not without Bible examples concerning the willingness to do so (Luke 23:34; Acts 7:60). Only when we have been wronged and return good to the person who has wronged us will we be setting the kind of example that we as Christians should be setting.

REMEMBER: DO NOT BLINDLY FOLLOW ANOTHER – MATTHEW 15:14; 7:13, 14.
We are not without Biblical examples here either (1 Corinthians 11:1). All too often it is by following another that we find ourselves in some sad situations. One of the most famous epitaphs reads:

“Stranger, stop as you pass by;
As you are now, so once was I.
As I now am, you soon will be,
And so prepare to follow me.”

Someone reading this, and seriously considering the matter, wisely added the following:

“To follow you I’m not content, until
I know which way you went.”

In our everyday lives we need to know just where it is that we are being led so that we will not be as the blind who follow the blind and fall in the ditch (Matthew 15:14)

REMEMBER: SATAN IS TRYING TO GET YOUR SOUL – There are numerous ways in which he sets about in trying to obtain your soul.

He tempts – Matthew 4:11
He lies – John 8:44
He steals the word – Luke 8:12
He persecutes – Revelation 2:10
He fashions himself into an angel of light – 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15
He seeks to destroy – 1 Peter 5:8

Each of us, especially as Christians, should remember these things, and beware.

REMEMBER: STAYING AWAY FROM THE SERVICES AND FELLOWSHIP OF GOD’S PEOPLE WILL CAUSE YOU TO BECOME COLD – REVELATION 3:15, 16; HEBREWS 10:24, 25 – Whenever we stay away from the services how do we propose to be provoked or exhorted to doing good works? One of the main purposes of our assemblies is to encourage each other to do good works and to love each other. When we fail to assemble, this will not get done.

REMEMBER: YOU MUST BE COUPLED TO CHRIST – PHILIPPIANS 1:21; 4:13 – The failure to be coupled to Christ is the trouble with many in the church today. They sit there and look nice. But they are not going to heaven, because they are not coupled to Christ.

Let us use seek to improve our memory and our relationship with the Lord as each days passes by.
